| A badge pinning ceremony was held on October 31, 2005. A newt Captain, Chris Lyerly and the three new firefighters, Joshua Chaparro, Brian Roberts and Shawn Perry were honored for their achievements and their badges were pinned on by their family members. Captain Lyerly was also administered the oath for a Salisbury Fire Officer. | |||

Captain Chris Lyerly Chris was promoted from Fire Engineer to Fire Control Captain on 1 October 2005. He has been with Salisbury Fire Department since February of 2000 when he transferred from the Water Department. Chris has extensive volunteer fire experience and currently is an Assistant Fire Marshal for Rowan County. He is a Level II Firefighter, Level II Instructor and has additional training in various capacities, including Confined Space and Trench rescue. He is currently assigned to Station 52. Chris lives in Granite Quarry with his wife Becky, daughter Chelsea and son Chase.

Josh Chaparro Josh is originally from New York City and has an extensive background in volunteer work with youth in the community. His job experience is varied and mainly deals with various customer service positions. He is fluent in Spanish and is furthering his education in Information Systems at RCCC. He is the son of Ernesto and Isabel Chaparro of Salisbury. Josh will be assigned to Ladder 516 A-shift.

Brian Roberts Brian is a graduate of Livingstone College with a degree in Criminal Justice. He has an extensive background with youth, having served as a House Manager for challenged young people. He holds certifications in First Aid and CPR. Brian and his family live in the Salisbury area and his girlfriend , Alana White, lives in Statesville. Brian will be assigned to Ladder 516 B-shift.

Shawn Perry Shawn is a graduate of Livingstone College, holding a degree in Sports Management. He was formerly employed as a Recreation Worker and is certified in First Aid and CPR. Shawn lives in Salisbury with his wife Charonda, two sons, Najee and Jaden and his daughter Iyanna. Shawn will be assigned to Ladder 516 C –shift.
