Students and parents should not be
alarmed on their first day back to school when they are greeted by a
fire truck on campus, Salisbury Fire Chief Bob Parnell said. The
Salisbury fire trucks, adorned with safety reminder banners, will be
stationed at local schools to remind drivers to slow down and
proceed with extra caution.
Salisbury Fire Marshal Terry Smith
said the Salisbury Fire Department is joining the Salisbury Police
Department and the Rowan-Salisbury School System to increase
back-to-school safety awareness while reminding drivers to be extra
attentive and alert for pedestrian traffic. Fire trucks will be on
display today and Tuesday at Isenberg and Overton elementary
schools, Salisbury Academy, Knox Middle and Henderson and Salisbury
high schools.
