FIRE
PROJECTS ANALYST
DEFINITION
To perform analysis
of specified Fire Department projects and the needs of the department in
relationship to the community; and to perform preparation of reports that
reflect the status of this relationship.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general
supervision from the Assistant Fire Chief.
Exercises no
supervision.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to the
following:
Use computer to
analyze fire department projects; perform computer programming, design computer
applications, and maintain computer equipment.
Prepare video tape or
photographs of fire or training related incidents or drills; compile
information from these video tapes or photographs for use in training and
review for fire fighting.
Research equipment
and fire related products; estimate departmental needs.
Draft equipment
purchase specifications and offer recommendations.
Participate in
wellness program.
Maintain office
files.
Draft maps for departmental
use.
Respond to job call
back after working hours and/or on weekends.
Perform related
duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
of:
Computer operations, software
applications, computer terminology.

Electronic Data Processing.
Research methods.
Fire Department operations.
Training methodology.
Incident command system.
Pertinent regulations of the
Federal, State and local laws, codes, and regulations.
English usage, spelling, grammar and
punctuation.
Ability
to:
Maintain physical condition as
required.
Perform computer operations
including programming.
Draft reports, type at a speed
necessary for a successful job performance.
Research and compile data for statistical
analysis reports.
Interpret data and create
representative charts and graphs.
Plan, prepare and conduct
audio-visual presentations.
Read and interpret technical fire
manuals and reports.
Respond to job call back.
While performing the
duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear;
stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or
controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required
to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up
to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision,

distance vision,
color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust
focus.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
Any combination of
experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and
abilities is qualifying. A typical way
to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Two years of responsible fire
control experience.
Training:
Equivalent
of the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by college level course
work in management information systems.
Additional specialized training
in audio-visual equipment operation
and photography is desirable.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE
Possession of, or
ability to obtain, a valid North Carolina driver's license. North Carolina basic level Emergency Medical
Technician Certificate is desirable.
Possession of
residential telephone service required.
