MAIL COORDINATOR

 

DEFINITION

 

To centrally manage the collection, distribution, and preparation of mail and interoffice items; to assist in processing all utility payments received by mail and to assist in the preparation of bulk mailings.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

 

Receives general supervision from the Customer Service Supervisor.

 

Exercises no supervision.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES – Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Collect mail from the U. S. Post Office.

 

Sort mail for distribution to departments.

 

Sort interoffice items for distribution to departments.

 

Distribute mail and interoffice items to departments.

 

Stamp collected mail and place in the Post Office box for pickup.

 

Collect interoffice items from each department/division.

 

Assist in the preparation of bulk mailings.

 

Take mail to U. S. Post Office.

 

Process payments made by mail.

 

Perform related duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

            Knowledge of:

           

            Postal regulations for bulk mail requirements.

 

            Operation of  calculator, personal computer, printer, copier, and City van.

Ability to:

 

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

 

Operate a personal computer and other computerized office equipment.

 

Work independently with a minimum of supervision.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES

 

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and ability is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

 

            Education:

 

            Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

 

            Experience:

 

            No experience is required.  One year of clerical experience is desirable.

 

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE

 

Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate and valid North Carolina driver’s license.
