Plants Maintenance Supervisor

Job Duties

 

 

1.      Supervise crew of 2 to 4 Maintenance Technicians in general areas of plants maintenance for Water, Wastewater, Residuals Treatment, and related facilities.

2.      Plan, prioritize and direct maintenance activities in all of the following fields: instrumentation, electrical, motor controls, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatics, welding/fabrication and building maintenance.

3.      Order parts and materials as necessary for repairs.

4.      Participate in budget preparation including cost estimates, expenditure justification and budget control

5.      Coordinate repairs to limit excessive down time and overtime.

6.      Provide or coordinate Maintenance Technician training including formal training, on the job training and feedback through performance reviews and disciplinary actions.

7.      Work in conjunction with Water and Wastewater Treatment Supervisors and under the general direction of the Plants Manager to undertake and achieve the retraining of the plant operators in basic plant maintenance activities and operations.

8.      Respond to job call back after working hours and/or on weekends and holidays.

9.      Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.

10.  Other duties as requested or required.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum qualifications require a high school diploma or equivalent GED; possession of, or ability to obtain, a North Carolina Class B CDL and a Mobile Crane certification; and four years experience in water/wastewater maintenance or related field.

 

Desired qualifications include one year of supervisory experience and technical training at the community college level in maintenance related field.

 

 

Physical Qualifications

 

Able to perform strenuous physical labor and heavy lifting associate with repairs of equipment and construction. Must pass a respirometer exam to be able to wear a respirator when working in conditions that require protection.
