Broadband Sales Specialist                           FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

General Definition of Work

Performs technical work selling television, internet and telephone services to commercial and residential clients, responding to customers with project and service information, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Sales and Marketing Manager.

Essential Functions

Performs duties in accordance with the City's keys to excellent customer service; acts as a team or group leader in the implementation of adopted City outcomes and goals.

Sells television, internet and telephone services to commercial and residential clients; uses computer system to enter necessary customer information to connect those services.

Conducts sales at in-office and external sites including residential and businesses requiring occasional evening and weekend work, travel within the City, speaking in front of small groups and other duties as assigned.

Up-sells products and services; provides customers with product and service information.

Responds to customer inquiries in person, by telephone, on website and by email.

Processes all service and billing matters, explains charges, updates customer files.

Identifies, researches and resolves customer issues; follows-up on inquiries not immediately resolved.

Completes call logs and reports; recognizes, documents and alerts supervisor of customer trends; recommends process improvements.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Some knowledge of modern sales practices including proven successful sales expertise; ability to exhibit self-motivation and assertive behavior while giving maximum consideration to customers' needs; general knowledge of modern office principles and practices; ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to speak with clear diction, in person and via telephone; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, consultants, other municipality representatives and the general public.

 

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED and moderate experience which includes proven, successful sales experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Physical Requirements

This work is sedentary and requires little to no exertion of force; work regularly requires walking and speaking or hearing, frequently requires standing and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

 

Special Requirements

Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
