FOG Program Coordinator FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
General Definition of Work
Performs
difficult skilled trades work coordinating and directing the enforcement of oil
and grease trap inspection and prevention program, preparing and maintaining
appropriate records and files, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited
supervision of the Environmental Services Manager. Continuous supervision is exercised over FOG
Inspector.

Essential Functions
Performs
duties in accordance with the City's keys to excellent customer service; encourages
and promotes a culture of excellent customer service.
Coordinates
and conducts utility education programs, including FOG educational
presentations and wastewater and water treatment plant tours.
Coordinates
all requirements of FOG Program, including issuance of compliance schedules,
notices of violations and civil penalties as needed.
Conducts
oil and grease trap inspections as well as other environmental investigations;
receives and responds to inquiries and complaints related to the FOG program.
Maintains
FOG program files in accordance with State requirements.
Develops
schedules for inspection of all oil and grease traps or interceptors.
Prepares
and translates FOG Program reports (English/Spanish) as required by the state
to maintain compliance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough
knowledge of federal, state and municipal laws and regulations pertaining to
contamination of potable water systems; thorough knowledge of operating and
installing oil and grease trap devices to prevent possible contamination;
ability to advise and instruct installations and detect possible sources of
contamination; ability to advise, instruct and communicate with consumers as to
proper methods of preventing contamination; ability to keep records and prepare
reports; ability to obtain compliance with regulations and to maintain
cooperative and effective relationships with industrial and residential
consumers; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school
diploma or GED and moderate experience working in a water and sewer utility, or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires
the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up
to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and
frequently standing, walking, sitting and using hands to finger, handle or
feel; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required
for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is
required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires
preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving
small defects and/or small parts, operating machines, operating motor vehicles
or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly
requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires
exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to bloodborne pathogens
and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is
generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
